DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW — not yet reviewed for Sierra Leone; must be replaced before launch. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Norex platform and the buy-now-pay-later financing of any device you acquire through us. Please read them carefully. By applying for a plan, making a deposit, or using our website, app or agent network, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Definitions
In these terms, the following words have the meanings set out below:
- “Norex”, “we”, “us”: the operator of the platform and provider of the financing.
- “Customer”, “you”: the person who applies for and receives a device on a plan.
- “Device” or “Product”: the phone, tablet, laptop, TV or accessory financed through Norex.
- “Plan”: the installment arrangement, including deposit, term and monthly repayment.
- “Agent”: a verified partner authorised to onboard customers and hand over devices.
2. Eligibility & Identity Verification (KYC)
To use Norex you must be at least 18 years old, resident in Sierra Leone, and hold a valid Sierra Leone national ID (NIN) and an active mobile number.
We must verify your identity before approving any plan. You agree to provide accurate information and a live selfie, and you authorise us to verify your details against national identity records through an authorised partner.
Approval is at our discretion
Passing verification does not guarantee approval. We assess each application on its merits and may decline or request additional information before offering a plan.
3. Guarantor Information
Certain plans require a guarantor who agrees to support your obligations if you default. You confirm that any guarantor you provide has consented to being named and to being contacted by Norex.
You are responsible for ensuring the guarantor details you provide are accurate and current.
4. Installment Plans & Payments
Your plan sets out the cash price, the deposit, the term (typically 3 or 6 months) and the monthly repayment. Plans are interest-free within the agreed term, and all charges are shown to you before you accept.
- Deposit: a first payment is required before your device is released.
- Repayments: the balance is spread across your chosen term and is due on each scheduled date.
- Early settlement: you may pay off your remaining balance at any time at no penalty.
Missed payments
If you miss scheduled repayments, your device may be remotely deactivated and your account may be suspended until your balance is brought up to date. Persistent default may lead to recovery of the device and reporting in line with applicable law.
5. Mode of Payment
Repayments can be made by mobile money, USSD, the in-app wallet, or in cash at a verified agent. You are responsible for making payments on or before the due date, regardless of the method used.
Any transaction or network fees charged by a payment provider are your responsibility.
6. Promotions & Offers
From time to time we may run promotions with their own terms. Where a promotion conflicts with these terms, the promotion terms apply for that offer only. Promotions cannot be combined unless we say so, and we may withdraw an offer at any time.
7. Product Deactivation
Financed devices may include software that lets Norex remind, lock or deactivate the device if repayments are overdue. You agree not to remove, disable or tamper with this software while a balance remains outstanding.
Tampering is a breach
Attempting to bypass, root, jailbreak or remove the management software before your plan is fully paid is a breach of these terms and may result in immediate deactivation and recovery of the device.
8. Ownership of the Product
Norex retains ownership of the device until your plan is paid in full. Once your final payment clears, ownership transfers to you and any management software is released.
Until then, you must not sell, pledge, or transfer the device to anyone else.
9. Delivery & Pickup
You may collect your device from the verified agent you select during your application, or choose delivery where available. You must present valid identification matching your application at pickup.
Please inspect your device at handover. By accepting it, you confirm it was received in good working order.
10. Lost, Stolen or Damaged Devices
You remain responsible for the outstanding balance if your device is lost, stolen or damaged. Report a lost or stolen device to us and the relevant authorities as soon as possible.
Accidental damage is not covered by these terms unless you have purchased a separate protection product.
11. Warranties
Devices carry the manufacturer’s standard warranty. Warranty claims are handled according to the manufacturer’s process. Norex is not the manufacturer and does not extend or replace the manufacturer’s warranty.
12. Third-Party Charges
Charges from third parties — such as mobile data, app subscriptions, insurance or network fees — are not part of your plan and are your responsibility.
13. Agent Terms and Conditions
Agents are independent verified partners who onboard customers and hand over devices on behalf of Norex. Agents must:
- Verify customer identity and eligibility before device assignment.
- Maintain professional conduct with customers at all times.
- Perform device setup and installation as trained by Norex.
- Comply with all platform policies and regulatory requirements.
Violations and Consequences
Violations of the Agent Code of Conduct may result in account suspension, termination, forfeiture of pending commissions, and/or legal action. Norex reserves the right to investigate any suspicious activity and take appropriate action.
Agent Account Deletion
Agent Right to Delete Account
Agents may request permanent deletion of their Norex account at any time, subject to the fulfilment of all outstanding obligations and the conditions outlined in this section.
Before you can delete your agent account, you must:
- Complete all pending onboardings: all customer onboarding processes in progress must be completed or properly cancelled. You cannot delete your account while onboardings are pending.
- Withdraw all commissions: you must withdraw all available commission balances. Any commissions that remain unwithdrawn at the time of deletion will be forfeited and cannot be recovered.
Account Deletion Process
- Navigate to account deletion in the agent app settings.
- Review the cautionary message regarding the permanence of deletion.
- Confirm that all prerequisites have been met.
- All pending onboardings must be completed
- All commissions must be withdrawn
- This will permanently delete your account and data
- Enter your password to confirm your identity and authorise the deletion.
- Confirm the final step to permanently remove your account.
Important Warning — Irreversible Action
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted:
- You will lose access to your agent account immediately
- Your account data will be permanently deleted (except data retained for regulatory compliance)
- You will not be able to recover your account, history, or any unwithdrawn commissions
- You will need to create a new account and complete KYC verification again if you wish to rejoin as an agent in the future
14. Customer Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your customer account once you have no active plan and no outstanding balance. Some information may be retained where the law requires us to keep it.
Deletion is permanent
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and history from the app (except records we must retain for compliance). You will need to re-apply and complete KYC again to use Norex in the future.
15. Administrative Rights
Norex may suspend or restrict an account where we reasonably suspect fraud, misuse, or a breach of these terms, or where required by law. We will act proportionately and, where appropriate, tell you why.
16. Intended Use
The platform and any financed device are for lawful personal use. You agree not to use them for fraudulent, illegal or harmful activity, and not to resell a device before your plan is fully paid.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Norex is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your misuse of a device or failure to meet your obligations. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.
18. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Sierra Leone, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use Norex after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
